FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks fell in their three-game series against the rival Barry Bucanneers this weekend. The Bucs took the first game 7-6 before the Sharks blanked them 6-0 in Game 2, but Barry won the final contest 5-3 to win the series 2-1.

Christina D'Agostino all had big weekends at the plate, and Russo smashed a two-run shot and four RBIs as the Sharks took the second game of the series.
Avery Desner earned the shutout win in Game 2 for the Sharks.

(GAME 1)
- The Buccaneers got on the board first with an RBI single in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Vivian Billard smashed a three-run shot over the right-field wall, giving the Bucs a commanding 4-0 lead.
- Neither team was able to score in the next few innings, but that changed in the fourth. Savanna Isaacson's double brought Emily Garcia home, and Isaacson later scored on Christina D'Agostino's RBI double. Destiny Lewis also batted in an RBI single, bringing the Sharks within one run and cutting Barry's lead to 4-3.
- In the sixth inning, Barry's Sarah Langlie hit an RBI double, and Billard's sacrficial fly brought another run home, giving the Bucs a 7-3 lead.
- The Sharks stormed back, as Abbey Moore recorded an RBI double, D'Agostino an RBI triple, and Ana Richiez an RBI single to cut Barry's lead to 7-6. However, that was as close as the Sharks would get, as they were unable to get the tying run in the seventh inning.

(GAME 2)
- Gianna Russo would have a huge game for the Sharks, and she got the home team on the board first with an RBI single in the first inning.
- Russo added to her totals with a two-run homer to left center in the third inning, giving NSU a 3-0 lead.
- Destiny Lewis hit an RBI single in the fourth inning that brought Christina D'Agostino home, and Lewis later scored on Ana Richiez' RBI double, giving the Sharks a commanding 5-0 lead.
- Russo finished it off for the Sharks, as the senior recorded an RBI single for the Sharks' sixth and final run. That score gave NSU the 6-0 victory, and Avery Desner earned the shutout win.

(GAME 3)
- The Bucs tallied runs in the first three innings, scoring first on a ground ball RBI. Barry later got an RBI single in the second inning, and Sarah Langlie batted in two runs in the third inning to go up 4-0.
- The Sharks responded with two runs in the bottom of the third. Ana Richiez hit a two-run shot to left center, batting in two runs and narrowing the deficit to 4-2.
- Gianna Russo continued her big day at the plate, as she hit a home run moments later to draw within one run.
- Russo's shot was the final run for the Sharks, as the Bucs tacked on an RBI single in the fourth inning to take a commanding 5-3 lead. That run held, as neither team was able to score the rest of the game.
The Sharks move to 9-8 after this series, with a 1-2 mark in SSC play. They will travel to St. Petersburg, FL for a three-game series with conference foe Eckerd College this weekend.
